We Have a Blast Fighting Dragons

Monday, February 20th, 2012

I recently joined a Dungeons & Dragons club at University Heights. I’ve been looking for a club to join that would allow me to have fun and that would allow me to meet fellow students that I otherwise may not have had a chance to get to know. The Dungeons & Dragons club was exactly what I was looking for. Not only was I able to have lots of fun playing role playing games and meeting new people, it also gave me the opportunity to acquire a brand new set of d&d dice that looked just like radiant gemstones. Even if you don’t like role playing games, you have to admit that d&d dice do look awfully cool. Our club meets on Tuesdays and Thursdays to play games. Every now and again, we’ll meet on a Saturday, although this is not too common. Most of the club members either have responsibilities at home, or have to work on the weekends. Regardless, the gang gets together and we have a blast exploring dungeons and fighting dragons.

Salsa Dance Studios in San Diego

Saturday, January 28th, 2012

One night a group of us were talking about salsa. Basically, we were debating whether salsa is a Latin dance, a rhythm dance or a club dance. One person even argued that salsa was a ballroom dance. After considerable debate we all decided that the salsa is an interesting dance genre that fits into several categories and has different styling depending on the place and instructor that is teaching the salsa. For instance, one friend took it at a ballroom dance studio and learned to use connection, leverage and body lead/follow plus timing and floor craft, so if there was more room, the patterns and movements could expand or they could be done in a smaller space as needed. Another friend had taken lessons in a club and claimed to do club style, which we thought essentially meant using little technique and lots of cool patterns. I had danced mambo for years so I preferred more technique and a more staccato styling plus breaking on count one or count two worked for me. At the end of our discussion we concluded that the salsa seemed to vary depending on the part of the country you learned it and whether you learned it in a club or dance studio. This seemed to explain the many different styles for salsa San Diego.

Why You Shouldn’t Follow Build Orders

StarCraft 2 Marine: Oberheim by ~Mulleboy on deviantARTWhen you try to memorize build orders you may find it very mind numbing. I personally don’t try to memorize strategies down to the second you get your first unit out.

I like learning about the basics of Starcraft 2 and the unit counters. Once you have a deep understanding of the game you can come up with your own strategies as many pro players have. To get a deep understanding of the game please check out this starcraft 2 guide.

There is nothing wrong with checking out the build orders for a strategy at first but at some point you will want to learn about the core of the game. You will want to know the advantages and disadvantages of each race.

For example the terran are the best at playing defense. So you may be facing an aggressive zerg player. You should be playing defense well so they wear themselves out. Use bunkers, siege tanks, and planetary fortresses to defend yourself.
